Pinterest Scammers are Cooking Up Some Kind of Recipe on Pinterest!
Pinterest scammers are cooking up some kind of recipe on Pinterest that is for sure.
I can’t pin down their exact method of operation just yet,
but there are some serious signs we are dealing with the next level of scumbags on the network we all love.
For those of you that missed my first article in January pinterest-recipes-what-are-these-pinterest-scammers-cooking-up
I basically had figured out that there was one company who was responsible for over 150 fraudulent accounts (according to my math).
These guys were the pits, but it was easy to spot them once you recognized the pattern.
no personal info
3,500 – 5,000 + pins
It turns out all 100 of these “Pinners” had exactly the same boards with the same pins…. all trying to sell you something.
So I wrote a blog post a few months ago…… Did anything change? Nope, not yet.
But fast forward just 4 months later…..
Now it gets more interesting because the “plot has thickened”. These guys are at it still at it but now
they added twitter accounts. Pretty clever. Slimy, but clever.
But, that is not even what this article is about. For more on that story you’ve got to come back next week.
( I didn’t even finish writing it yet, this was too important)
What this blog post is really about is something that has me really scared and should definitely be on Pinterest’s radar is this,
I am calling them Pin + Impossible = ImPINsibles ( yeah I know I’m a pinhead)
Now check this profile out
14 Pinterest Boards
Wait what….. 19,497 pins and only 23 followers? How that heck is that possible?
More importantly how the heck did this person pin 19,497 pins with no attention??
Use Melissa Taylor (whom I adore) as an example she has 11,995 pins and 1,419,629 followers
At 10 seconds per pin thats 10 X 19,497 = 194,970 seconds / 60 seconds per minute = 3250 minutes !
3,250 minutes / 60 minutes per hour = 54 hours straight!! / 24hours in a day 2.25 Days!! at 10 seconds per pin!!
Now if you are a real pinner you know there is now was you can pin that fast. More so why would you want to?
So assume you take on average 30 seconds per pin.
That would be the equivalent of 1 week straight pinning. No sleeping, no eating, no peeing!!!
It’s just not possible unless…. you are a bot.
I thought it was a little weird that I had a large amount of “people” suddenly interested
in only one of my Pinterest boards last week , Hmmmmmmmmm……….
So I checked them out,
Stephania 11,252 pins…… 12 followers…. nope nothing wrong there
Jeanetta 11,347 pins… 5 followers…. nope nothing wrong there
Robi 80 Boards …. 5,252 pins….. 145 followers….. nope nothing wrong there
Gold old Donna 23,629 Pins….. following 90…… 922 followers….. nope nothing wrong there
and my girl Andria an amazing 18,805 pins and already……. 29 Followers!!!…………. NOPE NOTHING WRONG HERE!!
Bottom line…. this is what is really worrying me about what the future on Pinterest might be if something is not done A.S.A.P.
You see this isn’t just an isolated “Pinner” I found about 20 of them all in the same day.
Some of them with 70, 80 even 100 boards each.
Now stop and think about this where are they getting all these pins?????
You guessed it from us. The real deal pinners.
The ones who spend hours building our boards painstakingly 1 pin at a time.
Then you have these scumbags whom in the middle of the night steal your boards and add it to their collection.
Then they duplicate that to 100 different bogus profiles with all your hard work….. in seconds.
In my opinion it is theft and nothing less.
I did block a whole bunch of the obvious ones. Last thing I want is some scam artist marketing firm stealing
what took me a year to build.
I hope you feel the same and take a moment to look at who follows you and who you follow back.
Helpful hint, don’t be in such a rush to follow everyone that follows you.
You just might fall right into their trap and follow a ImPINsibles
